Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product that simulates wood or sometimes even stone. The product is a combination of an inner core layer usually comprised of melamine resin and fiber board material with a a photographic applique layer protected by yet another clear layer, fused together by a lamination process.
Laminate floorings have grown in popularity because they are easier to install and maintain than more traditional surfaces such as hardwood flooring. It may also have the advantages of costing less and requiring less skill to install than alternative flooring materials. Laminate flooring is reasonably durable, hygeanic and relatively easy to maintain.
